Import & Export WooCommerce Product Options (Addons)

Introduction

Import / Export lets you move addon configurations between products and between sites without rebuilding them by hand.
Export an addon to a JSON file, then import it wherever you need it — individually or in bulk.

This guide is customer-focused and explains each setting in simple language, with practical examples.

What Is Import / Export?

Import / Export is a management tool in Extra Product Options for WooCommerce that saves an addon’s full setup to a file and recreates it from that file later. Exported files include field types, labels, pricing, options, validation, price rules and display rules.

Common use cases:

  • reuse the same addon across many products
  • copy addons from a staging site to a live site
  • back up your addon configurations
  • share a setup with a colleague

Where to Find Import / Export

Go to: WP Admin -> WooCommerce -> Extra Product Options (the addon list). Each addon has an Export action, and there is a Bulk Import / Export option for handling many at once.

Quick Setup (Step by Step)

Export a single addon

  1. Open the addon list.
  2. Click Export on the addon you want.
  3. A .json file downloads to your computer.

Import a single addon

  2. Choose a previously exported .json file.
  3. Confirm — the addon is created from the file.

  2. Export multiple addons into one file, or import a file containing many addons.
  3. Choose your import options (below) and run the import.

Best Practices

  • Keep Import duplicates as new copies on unless you intentionally want to replace.
  • Use Set inactive until reviewed when importing onto a live site.
  • Export regularly as a backup before making big changes.

Troubleshooting

Import does nothing or shows an error

  • Make sure you selected a valid .json file exported by the plugin.
  • Re-export the source addon and try again.

Imported addons are not visible on products

  • If you used Set inactive until reviewed, enable the addon after reviewing it.

Conclusion

Import / Export saves hours of repetitive setup. Move addons between products and sites confidently, with safe defaults that protect your existing configurations.
